If you haven't done so already. Take some time over the next few days to really S.E.L. yourself a great 2017 by doing this process I've developed… Subsequent Execution Learning (SEL), is about continuously sharpening the saw by learning from your personal experiences.
To make 2017 the best it can be, you need to do an S.E.L. and review what took place in 2016. You need to positively asses your year and how you did to leverage your performance both the good performances and also the not so good. You want to ensure you won't repeat the same mistakes, you'll identify and improve upon them like the most successful individuals and companies do.
It doesn't matter how good or bad your accomplishments for the year - it's possible to have done better. Yet, the most important element to getting a better performance and result seems to be ignored by most people. If you want to be at the top of your game you absolutely must review, analyze, and learn from what has already happened. There are seven stages in my S.E.L. process, and the distinctions that you glean from this must be integrated immediately into your new approach to have even better success.
Stage 1. Identify Your Three Greatest Achievements In 2016? Even if 2016 was not a great year for you, when you look for the positives closely enough you will find something somewhere to be proud of.
Stage 2. Analyze What You Learned from Each Achievement? What did you learn or have re-enforced by each of your achievements.
Stage 3. Identify Your Biggest Disappointments Of 2016? Honestly, who likes looking back at their failures? Yet these often present as the biggest opportunities for learning and growth. Maybe you didn't have a big mistake, well in that case look for the little things.
Stage 4. Analyze What You Learned from Each Failure or Disappointment? We are human after all so we may slip up from time to time. The key is to really analyse what went wrong , what led to the mistakes or wrong decisions, what could you have done differently and how will you improve in the future?
Stage 5. Determine How You Restricted Yourself Last Year and How Can You Stop? What did you do or not do that had an effect on your outcomes? Did you sabotage yourself by not doing something either small,or large? Identify these in order not to limit yourself again. What must you do differently?
Stage 6. Objectively review and assess the leaning you have accrued from these questions. It is one one thing to know and it is another level to apply. So how will you use this information to make you or your business even better for 2017. What are the big takeaways from answering each question? What do you know about yourself or your business that you didn't realize or weren't thinking about?
Stage 7. Use This Information to Propel Yourself into an amazing 2017. The goal here is to build in to your schedule, your interactions, your management style or whatever else you've identified in the previous questions and build yourself a new better approach.
That's all for now, Have fun and keep growing in 2017.
